My Brightest Diamond

I like this video.
It's an acapella version of a Nina Simone song
by My Brightest Diamond (her name's Shana something).

I'll try this again.

I like that video, too, Brian - thanks!
Funny - I've been listening to Nina all week - in between my learn greek podcasts, that is.. - she does a good job of loosening one up in such a warm, comfy and yet still provacative manner.. Love that lady.

And this singer does her justice, for sure.

hmm.. did you like the video itself or the singer actually?

(and as you can see I changed the name so this reads as me!)

I sort of know the Shana - I've met her a few times. She performs with my friend's band. I really like Nina Simone and just thought that Shana did a good job with it. Glad you like it steph!

Let me be the dissenting vote here, this performance embarrasses me (I don't know if it's embarrassment for me or for her, I'm guessing the latter).

I don't know who Nina Simone is.

Maybe this is good and I have no way to access it. Singers aren't really my thing unless they front bands.

Maybe acapella is closer to painting than I originally cared to think. It's just her, her foot, her clapping, and her voice, you know? It's just the painter, brushes, paint, canvas.

And this singer is using history (a song by the other singer I don't know but will Wikipedia soon). I wouldn't copy someone else's painting though. I could be influence by it but I'd never do a "cover painting". Maybe a lot of my paintings are kind of "cover paintings" or "done in the style of" paintings, kind of like "a string tribute to ____" (fill the blank with Metallica or Tool or whichever band you like). Actually it's not like that at all but it popped into my head. I wrote "pooped into my head" at first. That wasn't what I meant.

Maybe I'm a little conservative and kinda "like what I like", you know what I mean? Though when confronted with new stuff I'm usually affected by it and ultimately get into it a little bit.

So maybe I like this video/singing. I can't tell yet.
