Quick question: Has anyone seen the Kara Walker show at the Whitney?
It is to be taken down on February 12th (I think).
I've seen it three times and am anxious to hear what anyone has to say about her work. In the past I was a bit anti-Walker's work as I thought it was a bit one dimensional. I have since then had a bit of a revelation and deem it highly meaningful. So it is written, so it is said.

I haven't seen the Walker show but just checked the website and tomorrow is actually the last day. I may be able to go later or tomorrow. I'll post up here if I do.
But, I have always been pretty indifferent to her work. I've seen a bunch of her shows in the past and I guess I would have to use your words, Matt, and say that one-dimensionality was what I was left feeling. It just didn't get me to really feel anything beyond the feeling that it can be beautiful at certain moments and can make one think about her motivations, at other moments. But thats about it.
Okay - greek homework is where I'll be for the next hour or so.
